James 5:16b (NKJV)
“… The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”
The Word of God tells us that the fervent prayer of a righteous one avails much. According to the dictionary, “fervent” means “having or displaying a passionate intensity“. Besides, it also means “hot, burning, or glowing.” A fervent prayer is a prayer that is passionate, that is intense; a prayer that is hot and boiling. It is not a prayer that is waiting for the time to pass. It is not a lazy prayer. It is a prayer with a burden,
Verse 17 of the same chapter says Elijah was a man like unto us, (with a passion like us, with desires like us; but he prayed. He prayed a fervent prayer. And God caused the whole course of nature to change. The heavens that was supposed to give rain stopped to give rain for three years and a half. And after another fervent prayer it rained again. Fervent prayer can change our situation. Fervent prayer can turn things upside down.
What would you like to see happening in your life, in your family, in your community, in your nation, or even in the world? The key is fervent prayer. Pray with a burden. Let your prayer reach its boiling point. Do not cease to pray until something happens. For Jesus says “If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.” (John 14:14)
May you experience God’s power through prayer. God bless you
